Lip Blush
COMING NOVEMBER 2026
What is Lip Blush?
Lip blush is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing that enhances the natural shape, definition, and colour of your lips. Using a specialist device to deposit pigment into the skin, the treatment adds a soft, flattering tint that mimics the look of a perfectly applied lip colour — without the daily upkeep.
Unlike traditional lip fillers, lip blush does not add volume. Instead it works with your natural lip shape to define the edges, even out any asymmetry, and add a wash of colour that looks effortlessly natural. The result is lips that look polished and put together even when you are wearing no makeup at all.
At Blossom Beauty, lip blush begins with a consultation before any treatment takes place. This gives Katie the opportunity to understand exactly what you are looking for, assess your lips, choose the right pigment shade for your skin tone, and make sure the treatment is right for you before you commit.
Results typically last between one and three years depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare, with a top up appointment recommended to perfect and maintain the colour.

Pre & Post Treatment Advice
-
Keep your lips well moisturised for 5–7 days before your appointment.
Gently exfoliate your lips 2–3 times during the week before treatment to remove dry skin (avoid exfoliating on the day of treatment).
Drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated.
Eat a meal before your appointment to help prevent light-headedness.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
Avoid excessive caffeine on the day of your appointment if possible.
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medication for 24–48 hours before treatment unless prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
Avoid fish oil, vitamin E, garlic supplements, and other supplements that may increase bruising for 48 hours before treatment, unless medically advised to continue them.
Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure before your appointment.
Arrive with clean lips, free from lipstick, lip balm, or gloss if possible.
-
Your lips will appear much brighter and darker immediately after treatment. This is normal and the colour will soften significantly as they heal.
Mild swelling, tenderness, tightness, and dryness are expected for the first 24–48 hours.
Apply the recommended aftercare balm with clean hands or a clean cotton bud, following your practitioner's instructions.
Keep your lips clean and avoid touching them unnecessarily.
For the First 7–10 Days
Do not pick, peel, or scratch any flaking skin, as this can affect pigment retention and healing.
Avoid lipstick, lip gloss, and other cosmetic lip products until the lips have fully healed.
Avoid kissing while the lips are healing to reduce the risk of infection.
Avoid spicy, salty, or very hot foods if they cause discomfort.
Drink through a straw where possible for the first 24–48 hours to minimise contact with the lips.
Gently pat your lips dry after eating or drinking and reapply your aftercare balm if advised.
Avoid smoking if possible, as it may slow the healing process.
Avoid for 7–14 Days
Swimming pools, hot tubs, and the sea.
Saunas and steam rooms.
Excessive sweating and strenuous exercise.
Direct sun exposure and sunbeds.
Facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, or exfoliating treatments around the lips.
Retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and other active skincare products around the treated area.

Top-Up Appointment
A perfecting session is usually recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial treatment to:
Reinforce pigment.
Correct any uneven areas.
Perfect the shape and colour.
Long-Term Care
Keep your lips moisturised.
Apply an SPF lip balm when outdoors to help protect the pigment from fading.
Stay well hydrated to keep your lips healthy.
When to Contact Your Practitioner or Seek Medical Advice
Contact your practitioner if you experience:
Increasing pain, redness, or swelling after the first few days.
Yellow or green discharge, excessive crusting, or signs of infection.
A severe allergic reaction.
A cold sore outbreak if you have concerns about healing.
With the correct aftercare, most clients heal well and enjoy soft, natural-looking colour that typically lasts 2–3 years, with a colour refresh recommended as the pigment gradually fades.
